What is the UEFA Nations League
UEFA Nations League is a soccer tournament that replaces friendly matches with official matches between teams from 55 countries. The new system allows national teams to play matches with teams of similar rank. Four winning countries from League A group qualify directly for the UEFA Nations League final that will take place in June 2021. The rest of the national teams will have to play a tournament.
55 teams compete and are divided into four leagues. The UEFA National Team Co-Fans Ranking determines the league in which each country plays. In Leagues A, B and C 16 teams participate and in League D, 7 teams. The winning teams in the Leagues B, C and D groups are promoted and conversely, the groups in Leagues A, B are relegated. Two teams from League C descend directly to League D in the tournament to be played in the 2022/23 season. To determine which teams are relegated to League D, playoffs are played between the four teams that occupy the last position of each group in League C.
