On June 20 football returns in Italy
The decision has been agreed by the president of the Football Federation, Gabriele Gravina, and the president of the Serie A League, Paolo Dal Pino. “The Technical and Scientific Committee has approved the protocol of action and the Federation has assured me that they have a plan B and C. So the championship can resume on June 20,” explained Vincenzo Spadafora.
Spadafora took the opportunity to announce the date on which the semifinals and the final of the Italian Cup will be played, on June 13 and 17 respectively.
Like the rest of the European leagues, an action protocol has been drawn up that must be strictly followed. The health crisis forced the suspension of Serie A on March 9 as a measure to stop the spread of the coronavirus. There are still 12 games to play, for some teams 13. Cristiano Ronaldo’s Juventus leads the championship. However, they are closely followed by Lazio, who are only one point away.
France, the only major European league that does not restart the season
The objective of the major European leagues is to end the sports year between June and July. In this way, the Champions League could be resumed in August and thus meet the European champion.
The French league is the only major European league that will not end its season due to the coronavirus pandemic. In April the French Federation already announced that the remaining matches to end the season would not be played. The champion of the 2019/2020 season is Paris Saint-Germain.
