Iker Casillas, new advisor to Real Madrid. After his farewell to Porto F.C and resigning the presidency of the Spanish Football Federation on June 15, Iker Casillas could return to Real Madrid. The goalkeeper could work as an advisor under Florentino Pérez. A position previously held by his former colleagues Raúl González or Zinédine Zidane.
The departure of Iker Casillas was convulsive and very controversial in 2015. Five years later, and with the perspective that the years give, the old quarrels have been left behind. The Spaniard could be preparing his return in September to the team of his life, where he developed his sports career, where he grew as a player and where he has won the most titles.
Galactic honors
Iker Casillas, new advisor to Real Madrid, hung up his boots as a soccer professional on May 1, 2019 after suffering a heart attack in training with Porto. Since 2015 he had been the goalkeeper of the Portuguese team where he has won three titles. After the heart attack, he went on to occupy a managerial position within the Portuguese club. The contract ends this season and if there are no last minute changes, the former player will be part of the white club next season. On August 1, Porto plays the final of the Portuguese Cup against Benfica and that is when Iker Casillas will probably make his separation from the Portuguese club official.
Iker Casillas has undoubtedly been the best goalkeeper in the history of Real Madrid and probably the best goalkeeper in the history of football. At just 19 years old he became the Real Madrid starting goalkeeper. During his years at the white club, he won five Leagues, three European Cups and two Real Cups. His record is superior if his career within the Spanish National Team is taken into account. To which must be added a World Cup and two Euro Cups.
