La Roja was playing its first final in the UEFA Nations League. The Spanish team needed to beat Germany to play the Final Four. With nine points, one more than Spain, Germany was the leader of Group 4. Germany had not lost since September 6, 2019 to the Netherlands. Spain came after drawing against Switzerland and the Netherlands and losing against Ukraine.
Intensity, pressure and goal
Luis Enrique’s players knew that only victory was worth them. In the first minutes, Spain put pressure on the German area and had several occasions, and even demanded a penalty for a foul on the edge of the area. A few minutes after the first half began, Betis player Sergio Canales was injured and Fabian entered to replace him.
The third time lucky. Morata’s header at the far post in the 16th minute. A goal that put Spain ahead on the scoreboard and made him dream of the Final Four. The confidence and tenacity of Luis Enrique’s players has had an effect. Minutes later the Juventus player’s second goal was annulled in a sensational move. Andreas Ekberg was wrong to annul Morata’s goal, as it was not offside.
Sergio Ramos, injured
La Roja continued to press and in the 33rd minute, Ferrán Torres scored the second goal, after a failed shot by Dani Olmo. No two without three, and the third came a few minutes later. Rodrigo scored the third.
Great Spanish football festival in the first part. However, it has not been all good news for the Spanish team. The captain, Sergio Ramos, had to leave the field after a muscle injury, and was replaced by Eric García.
Germany has not been there and was not expected. The German team has had too many problems in defense and the Spanish players have seen their weaknesses. End of the first half, Spain 3, Germany 0.
Spain have played their best game so far.
La Roja goal festival
In the second half, Spain continued with the same pressure and intensity as during the first half and the fourth goal came in the 54th minute. Manchester City player Ferran Torres doubled and scored his second goal of the game. Joachim Löw’s face was a poem and there is still more than half an hour left.
Spain devastates Germany. The German coach has made two changes with which he hoped to change the course of the game. Waldschmidt and Neuhaus have entered via Sané and Goretzka. However, the German team has continued to touch and sink. Germany is not used to losing and less so in such a humiliating way.
They had not digested the fourth, when Ferran Torres scored the fifth. Torres hat-trick. Great game from the City player. Mikel Oyarzabal, Gerard Moreno and Asensio entered the field to play the last minutes replacing Morata, Dani Olmo and Ferran. Oyarzabal scored in the 89th minute and left the final score.
