The UEFA Executive Committee has released the calendar, format and venue where the remaining matches will be played to meet the Champions League and Europa League champions of the 2019/2020 season. The Champions League final will be played on August 23 in Lisbon.
There is already a date for the final of the Champions League. The Portuguese capital will host the top European competition on August 23. The remaining matches of the Champions and Europa League competitions will be played as a single match and behind closed doors. Manchester and Barcelona bet on playing at home. However, the EUFA prefers that all remaining matches be played in Portugal. In the event that they are played in Portugal, the chosen stadiums are Da Luz and José Alvalade.
The COVID-19 health crisis has changed UEFA’s plans. Finally, Istanbul will not host the 2019/2020 Champions League final. Those responsible have rejected this option due to its inability to guarantee security. Neither will Madrid. In recent days, it had been heard that the capital of Spain could be the new headquarters, however, it seems that the UEFA executive has opted for the Portuguese capital.
